shareWell... actually, a lot of the ideas behind "Santa Claus" (not necessarily this version, I'm talking in general) did come from the Pagan story of the Holly King, who is celebrated at Yule (which was turned into Christmas by the Roman Catholic Church). So actually yeah, Santa is Pagan at lest if not specifically Wicca.
I did some study into this a few years back, along with some paper on the History of Wicca for school, that's why I know this. Nothing like turning your interest in a new religion into your Senior Year term paper in high school. lol
oh absolutely, but it just seemed like an odd choice for Rankin/Bass. I know they loved Oz and this was a Baum novel, but it totally doesn't fit in with their cannon.

Yule was a Month, not a day, and th Catholic Churhc di dnit appropriate Christmas frp Pagans. Santa Claue was created by Coca Cola based on Father christmas who in tun was base don St. Nicola of Myrna, a real man.
