DVD Commentary

Anyone care to shed some light on what is mentioned in the DVD commentary by Helen and Yeardly? I am a die hard Helen fan but I can't spend a buck on this right now. SO...anyone???

When will you ever learn, this feeling is all you can discern?

I watched it tonight and thought the commentary track was a lot of fun. They talked like old friends and joked quite a bit about the 80s styles and how young everyone looked.

They both mentioned how hot it was filming in Corpus Christi, and what a handsome guy Peter Coyote was. They also agreed how good the actor playing the slimeball was, and that he was so nice in real life.

Helen talked about Christian Slater and how much energy he had, and confirmed they are not brother and sister (people still ask her!) She also said Keith Gordon was great to work with. Women tell her to this day they cut their hair like B.J. when they saw the movie, and she mentioned really liking the style while watching it now.

Yeardly said she thought the movie would make her a huge star, and was really disappointed when it didn't do very well. She still has people come up to her and quote the line 'When do I get a diaphragm?' She also said how much junk she ate making the movie, like choc bars and cake, etc.

Also, both of them said they still have something from the movie...Helen kept the sweater she wore in the last scene and Yeardly kept a teddy bear.

Btw, at one point Helen said 'it's 2008', and it wasn't until 2011 that the dvd came out. The quality is really good too -- great picture and sound. I rented it from the library, so you should check around if you don't want to give Amazon $20! It's really a good listen.

TBH there is not a massive amount of info in the commentary that is usually in them, Helen it seems can not remember 90% of the movie haha

and a lot of times she says ..oh this is the scene where.... and she gets it totally wrong, I find it hard to see why she can not remember a lot of the filming etc she has not been in many things plus working on a movie you would think even if you work on tons of movies that you would still remember a lot about it.

Thanks for sharing what's on the commentary. I have the dvd (purchased off of Amazon) but it is a pirated copy. Every so often little advertisements pop up on the bottom of the screen. think it was taped off of TBS.

Yeah, it's kind of strange when actors and filmmakers can't remember much about a movie they worked on. The director of "The Stepfather (1987)" on his commentary track cannot recall anything practically.

The recent DVD and Blu-ray release by Mill Creek Entertainment retains the commentary from the previous MOD DVD-R release of this film. Best of all, said DVD and Blu-ray release is selling for only ten bucks. I bought the DVD for a mere five dollars at a Barnes & Noble in Central New Jersey.
