i cant believe id never seen this! i love fantasy adventure films like

krull
dark crystal
labrynth
neverending story

what others am i missing!?

yup, only one i havent seen is princess bride and thats on the way :)

If you like The Princess Bride, Stardust is along the same lines and fifty times better.

Don't forget Return to Oz and Supergirl. The latter is a mix of Superhero and fantasy. Pretty cool stuff.

I second the recommendation for The 10th Kingdom. Awesome fantasy mini-series.

Dragonslayer and Excalibur are good 80s fantasy movies also.

Those are great suggestions, too! I was fortnate to see both in the theater. In fact, with "Excalibur", I ended up going so many times that they started refunding my money!

"Dragonslayer" I also saw at the drive-in~sadly, the final film before it closed. I miss the drive-in experience!

Some great suggestions so far, and great taste to begin with on your part:) Taking a glance over my collection, I'll add a few more obvious ones and some not so obvious ones..

Alice (SyFy miniseries)- fantastic visuals and great story/acting (plus Curry's in it if memory serves me right)

Big Fish- more story/human drama heavy but some really cool visuals and interesting characters throughout

MirrorMask- one of my all time favorites; kind of an Alice in Wonderland story but a truly hidden gem (although fairly new)

The Last Starfighter- a great 80's classic

Night Watch/Day Watch- both directed by Timur Bekmambetov- very strange and demand your consistent attention but I think they're worth a viewing given your apparent tastes. Hopefully we'll eventually see Dusk Watch, the final part of the trilogy:)

Finally, I think you could possibly lump most of Hayao Miyazaki's movies into the genre; maybe that's just me lovin' his work though.
