Just watched both versions - and I liked them both...

And that includes the scores. They're both very different films and I like each version for different reasons but...I wouldn't be able to make the call as to which one was my favourite.

I suppose we're quite lucky to have two great films to choose from!

Agreed. I watch this film at least once each year, and I always alternate between versions.

"Well...I've seen enough. Come on Charlie, we're going home."

I still prefer the U.S cut, though I feel it does need a pinch from the director's cut in order to be perfect! Ridley's cut was disappointing to me, despite some good touches here and there.

Upon reflection, I would say that the reason for choosing this film as favourite would depend heavily on the age you were on first viewing and perhaps less, which version you saw first.

I would imagine that the theatrical version appeals to the younger viewer, and the directors cut is more adult.

Just my two cents.

Interesting view!

For me, I consider both of them to be adult in tone.

I like Ridley's decision to leave Darkness unseen until the mirror moment, however, the U.S opening is so great, that I almost prefer it, even though Darkness is revealed early on.

A combo of the two would be the best option, but if I had to chose, I'd stick with the U.S version.

If I get some equipment in the future, I'll make my own version and post it online!

I still think the Director's Cut would have been better with Tangerine's score (and yes, I'm a big Goldsmith fan).

Hey there, Johnny Boy, I hope you fry!

Is the US cut or "Tangerine Dream version" still available on DVD or Blu-Ray anywhere? I haven't seen it in years, and as such I've gotten so accustomed to the director cut that I've forgotten the feel of the Tangerine Dream music beyond "Loved By The Sun".
