Comfort Film

Anybody have comfort films? They're usually what you want to watch when you want to wrap up warm and feel safe and well...comforted.

Legend (The American Cut) is my ultimate comfort movie

My other comfort movies are Braveheart and Last of the Mohicans.

I feel so content watching it it's like I'm back in the womb or something.
Anyone else feel this way?

Legend is one of mine too. Also on the list:

The Princess Bride
Labyrinth
Pride and Prejudice
Closer (somewhat inexplicably - it's not a very comforting movie)
Almost Famous
Fellowship of the Ring

Definitely the NeverEnding Story. Not sure why but if I'm feeling down or something I just want to watch it. It doesn't "cheer me up" in a dramatic sense, just makes me feel good. I'm hoping to find more movies that make me feel like it, so I'm watching Legend now, and plan to watch the Labyrinth and Dark Crystal asap. Also Fellowship of the Ring sorta comforts me. I'm addicted to watching the parts in the Shire.

Nice thread =)

Exactly what I was going to say.
Those three has followed me since childhood, and I still enjoy they as much today as the first time I saw them.
The magic of them just doesnt dissipates.

- Tropic Thunder - because it funny, and I notice something different with each viewing.
- Balls of Fury - I just find this movie to be really corky and funny.
- Monty Python and the Holy Grail - f'ing hilarious!!!!
- The Jungle Book (1994) - Favourite film to watch growing up.
- Gladiator (Extended Cut) - I just love this movie to bits!
- The Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring (Extended Cut) - has to be seen with a friend
- Old School (Unrated) - classic
- The Hangover (Unrated) - another classic
- Watchmen (The Ultimate Cut) - for some odd reason, and I've only scene that cut twice
- King Kong (Extended Cut) - beautiful
- King Arthur (Unrated Director's Cut) - amazing
- Batman Forever - because it was the first Batman film I ever owned.
- Batman: Under the Red Hood - It has its moments where I'm like WOW!
- American Psycho (Unrated) - just brilliant, and the soundtracks great too.
- The Cat O' Nine Tails - I really don't know why.
- Tenebrae - because of its shots and soundtrack.
- Predator - do I have to say anything?

And many more. It's funny that I consider most of these my "comfort" films, because I have the urge to see them, but then I'm like "well I want to watch it, but then I'd have to watch it's prequels and sequels in the case of Batman Forever and Predator, and LOTR. Or I have want to watch it with someone else, or in a group, like LOTR, Watchmen, King Arthur, Gladiator (though I can watch that anytime by myself)." I really think that The Cat O' Nine Tails and Tenebrae are great films for both their cinematography and soundtracks. While comedies like The Hangover, Old School, Tropic Thunder, Balls of Fury, and Monty Python and the Hold Grail are just so much fun to watch. Unfortunately, Legend didn't make the cut, even though I really think that the film is amazing and all, but not at all comforting. Sorry Ridley Scott.

Great post by the way.
