This movie is perfect!

This has to be in my top 3 movies from the 80's. It brings you to tears, makes you laugh, fills you with anticipation and excitement. The casting is perfect too. Michelle Pfeiffer and Rutger Hauer are absolutely stunning. Michelle even has a haunting, delicate bird-like quality, and Rutger Hauer is absolutely yummy, handsome, with just enough of the painful, heart wrenching longing. The love story in this movie is so beautifully tragic, it grabs your heart strings, and I don't think you can top the sunrise scene where they almost touch, only to have the moment snatched away.
To all those who don't like the music....... I think there are more of us that love it than there are of you, lol. So what if it doesn't match the period, it is beautiful. For those of us who love and enjoy the movie for what it is, it just adds to the beauty of it. There are plenty of gritty, dark, more realistic movies you can enjoy. And for those people who think you can recast Navarre better...... good luck, lol. Rutger Hauer was perfect for this.
For all those who love it like it is...... watch and enjoy. For those who don't like it like it is...... go watch something else.

Except for the score. A classic with decent music, just better than average without it.

I totally agree, plot and story was just perfect. It could almost sound like a real legendary Medieval folklore or legend or just a story involving an evil bishop, a courageous knight, a beautiful Lady, a drunken but loyal monk, and a clever thief.

Remove Matthew Broderick and replace the music. It will be perfect then.

I was a huge fantasy nerd when this came out, played D&D all the time, loved Conan the Barbarian, Excalibur, even those low-budget 80s fantasy movies like Beastmaster and Sword & the Sorcerer.

Ladyhawke just left me flat. I only saw it once at the theater and I have only the faintest memories of it. Never had the urge to rent or buy it and never bothered to catch it on TV. Nothing about this movie stood out at all. To me, it was just teenage girl-style fantasy and not worth a second look.

I'm curious to see if I would find it any more enjoyable now. I have a feeling I would feel the same way: Underwhelmed.
