How In The Hell Is This Not On DVD?!?!

Nominated for Best Picture of 1985 and you can't get it on DVD?? I don't get that. What could possibly be holding it up?

The guy who controls the rights has nothing else to do in life but play with the DVD.
As soon as its released, he'll be ignored.

Just got this from:
David Weisman <[email protected]>

No, reluctant to have the rights trapped forever in a studio library.

No matter who one licenses to, the rights get swallowed by a larger library
within a very few years anyway.

Big fish always eat smaller fish in the amazon jungle of the filmbiz.

Happened once already (1985-2000) and it was so awful we who made it vowed never to let that happen again.

The idea is isolate this title from the filmbiz club, where it never belonged in the first place.

We'll just wait till it's the last Oscar winning movie in private hands then auction the ownership as the "ultimate movie collectable" to an art collector via sotheby's or christie's.

Then the new owner can decide whether to donate to a museum, keep it private, or worry about blueray or HDdvd.

It's all gonna wind up broadband HD eventually anyway.

So basically, there's no chance in hell of it coming to DVD? Is that what Weisman is saying?

Go to [email protected] and ask them to work on the Apu trilogy and Sholay.

This has been breaking my heart since forever. This is my favorite movie of all time. Great performances, great storyline. We all have a better chance of the musical being released on dvd. What a heresy. No offense to the musical, but still. I believe there are others like me who would love to see this movie released on dvd.
