dvd

Any clue when the dvd for this will come out?

reply

I have been in touch with the producer, David Weisman, who is working on the DVD version. It should have come out last spring, but he was having difficulties with editors, etc. He doesn't want to give it to anyone else! This is what he has told me so far "I am busy editing, right now still working on finishing the 1st of the 2 documentaries for the KISS dvd (the making of) and the puig doc is sitting there unfinished... I need to get another editor in here but cannot afford it so everything takes forever... Have to get back to work, will catch up with you later... Cheers, david"

Let's hope it happens soon!!!

Sorry, all! I haven't heard from David Weisman (the producer) for almost a year now. I have his phone number and will try to call him. Will keep you posted... This is the latest I got from him:

David Weisman wrote:

Dear Marta,

Thanks for your message. I am only half thru with the Puig doc, but I have completed the other documentary (the one about the making of KISS the movie). It’s a full-length feature, and quite good I’m told, and if you’d like to see it pls re-send me your mailing address and I’ll send you a VHS tape. I managed to include a small snippet of Manuel from the GMU lecture.

Cheers
david

Interesting. So is he STILL working on it, or has it been abandoned?

Is there anything we frustrated fans can do to help this along? Write letters to people? Promise our firstborn? Etc.? It's positively INSANE that this movie isn't available on DVD.

Just got it from USA, Region 1. Have watched and, after so many years, I feel a bit disappointed. I hope I am not going crazy but I remember a different ending, with Molina, Valentin and Sona Braga hand in hand walking into the sea...Is it possible that the Amrican version has a different ending? I watched it in Italy when it first came out.
I know that sometimes these things happen. Luchino Visconti's 'The Damned, for instance, has been butchered in the American version, where at least three scenes are missing and the end has been edited out to the point that it looses all its poignancy...

I haven't seen the DVD but recently watched my VHS copy. It ends with Valentin and Marta running down a beach hand in hand, getting into a rowboat, and rowing away as the credits roll. Molina is mentioned in a voice over conversation. I saw this in the theater when it first came out, and that's the only ending I know of. Hope that helps!
