Rated R for a crude sexual remark....

Why does it state this on the DVD case? I've never seen the movie but I figured it was rated R for more than just a remark regarding someone's sexuality.

I'm gonna pick this up next time I go to Best Buy.

It's the word that means "gay man" that starts with "fa" and ends with "ggot"

It also means a bundle of sticks but in this movie it is a crude sexual remark.

"Enough of that technical talk, Foo!"

the world wasn't that PC in 1985. People weren't afraid to use the those words even on network television. i'm not saying it was acceptable to run out and call someone either of those words, but people weren't expected to spell them to describe the word itself.

i think it was a combination of the sex, violence and crime that might have been deemed too strong for under 17.

"Don't feed the dog from the table from the plate on top of it!"

There are also a few uses of the f word and a bit of violence. Very little violence though. There is only one scene with actual blood.

"You gonna bark all day little doggie, or are you gonna bite?"

and the suggested...but obvious sex scene, in the dark.

Because of homophobia.

Said gay slur was used repeatedly on an episode of Miami Vice in 1985, so I doubt that's the real reason it was rated R. Unless "crude sexual remark" just refers to the word "fvck" , which gets said a few times.
