Alternative ending?

Hi, I am pretty positive when I saw this movie when it first got release, the ending was different. I remember Luis, Valentin and Marta on the beach in a filtered light. I watched it again last night and I found the end a bit disappointing, with Valentin wanting to take Luis as well and Marta leading him away. The image (in full colour) of Luis and Marta in broad daylight was a bit too real for me - and vaguely reminiscent of the end of The French Lieutenant's Woman. I know the KoSW has undergone heavy editing more than once and I was wondering whether they filmed another finale, which was ultimately edited out in favour of the one we have on the DVD...
