Did not like Cliff Robertson

I managed to get a Video on E-Bay of this television film as I am a David Soul Fan. Whilst I enjoyed his performance, the good guy played by Cliff Roberton was not convinceing. He had an American accent whilst his son in the film had an English accent. It spoilt the film for me.

After just reading the book, I started this movie, Now even though I liked it, I had trouble with Cliff Robertson as Maj. Vandam. Why did they change him to an American?
On the flip side to this I thought I would hate David Soul as Alex Wolff but he is fantastic in the role, if you're a fan of the book its worth seeing this just to see David Soul bring Wolff to life!

I don't know about the book, but in the mini-series they do point out that he is an American who is working with the British Military Intelligence. It's something Kemel points out about him, and how he took note of it because it was unusual. May have simply been done because Cliff couldn't do a British accent. Since the kid does sound British, I assumed the dead wife/mother was British and the kid had grown up in England before going to Cairo with dad.
