I have been wondering for YEARS the name of a movie with a similar plot line to this, but I think the kids are younger, and the girl/boy plays piano, maybe to be in a band??? Anyways I remember seeing it once in the early 90's when I was just a kid, and I have been trying to find it ever since. Thanks for your help in advance!!

He plays a high school student accepted into an accelerated music program and runs afoul of the bullies at the new school, and then goes home to dress as a girl to get past them intending to change once he is inside, but is caught by a teacher and must keep up the ruse until he is outed at the end.
