It’s not often the slasher archetype is translated into a new mode successfully. Attempts are usually overly ingratiated to the genre itself or imbued with cumbersome horror film antics and highly derivate characterization. Junior suffers from none of this. In fact, his boyish bayou bravado and slothful but dense swagger are concomitant only to his brilliant dress sense, underscoring the fact that this maniacal murderer is never too busy killing riverboat queens to look sharp and dress the part. Junior is tops in my book.
