German vs. American

I have the American dub on VHS from 1988 on HBO. I was recording Fraggle Rock and forgot to shut off the recorder. Besides the music, what is the difference between the American dub and the German version? Is it worth watching the German version? Are the differences significant enough? I don't want to bother if I won't notice the differences 26 years later.

the american dub is terrible. i wish my bluray had german audio.
