Which Police Story film is your favourite?

For me it's either Police Story 1 or New Police Story, because it's so different from the others.

Although I love certain moments from all the PS movies, my favourite has to be the original. Basically because it was my first!

Way back in December 1986 I watched this movie, the friend I watched it with still has a dislocated jaw from watching the movie open mouthed!!! It was the maddest thing we'd ever seen, and I've been semi obsessed by JC ever since (I'm not a stalker, but I certainly collect every version of his movies I can afford!!!).

You forget all the things, you just do it!

PS 1. the second one just wasn't as good and had a worse storyline.

I enjoyed the second one a great bit, but it did seem to have lower production values for some reason.

My fav is the first one. Awesome.

what is this rated and why

reply

Rated R in the US because the rating system of the late 80s in the US didn't know how to deal with martial arts movies.

This movie is easily PG, or PG-13 at the most. It is hilarious, and with the exception of a little innuendo, is almost entirely squeaky clean.

The action is frenetic, and to some, shockingly violent, but it's an excellent film and doesn't deserve an R rating.

Hands down, Police Story 1 for the reason that it'll never be done again. Sadly, New Police Story is my least favorite in that it only wants to be another blockbuster and not a true trend-setter like PS1. And it just sucks plain and simple.

Police Story 1 was my favorite.....that movie just rocks and the fight scenes are so good we may never see anything like this ever again. Add to that some good chase scenes, some off beat humor like JC stepping in a dogpile and moonwalking and gyrating to get it off, a court trial that goes hilariously awry and the greatest parking job I have ever seen to "get the last spot" when he was late, and you have a really great movie that most action stars simply could not do without numerous props and wires. A plus

Police Story 3 was highly enjoyable too. There were some great fight scenes as well as stunts and Michelle Yeoh did a fantastic job in a supporting role. Still one of my favorite Jackie Chan movies...........A

Police Story 2 wasn't a bad movie at all either. In this one, Jackie gets hit by a car when the stunt driver messed up.......he literally flies right off the screen.....kind of two movies in one with 2 one hour long plots.....this is still a lot of fun..........B+

Police Story 4 just did not have enough fights and stunts in it......you still have to like the fight using the stepladder but there is some good humor here too........I haven't seen it in a long time, it just doesn't measure up with his really great stuff..........C+

Police Story 5.......I was just glad to see him getting back to his "old" style of movies and the stuff that he does best (even though as he gets older it gets harder and harder to measure up to the things he did 20 years ago!) As much of a JC fan as I am, I simply have no desire to see him in movies like The Tuxedo because anyone can do that movie. What makes the older JC movies so enjoyable is you know he is doing all the stunts and fights himself with no camera tricks, they are unique and American style action stars simply can't do what he does in his movies..........C+ for this one and still thumbs up.

The first one or second one,i thought third one was pretty good too,the fourth one didn't even feel like sequel

Totally agree with this post. First one is best with the shantytown destruction and the unsurpassed mall set piece. It's also the funniest in the series. Supercop is next because of Michelle Yeoh and the final chase/fight with the cars, helicopter, and train. PS 2 is third. It's very good but the plot is too disjointed. It does have that great, great playground fight scene. The others are pretty lame.

The first two for me. I hate the third one with a passion it's inferior to the two that came before it. And the series just got worse as it went along.
