it really bugs me how they pronounce santa crUZ (esp. Glenn Close). They put the enunciation over crUZ. it always gets on my nerves for some reason!

I hear ya'! I used to live there, and you would never hear a local pronounce it that way.

"Hobson, I'm going to take a bath." "I'll alert the media."

I know this is an old post but I don't quite know what you mean? I thought it was pronounced that way?
I hate that too like Pres-cott AZ. Instead of Pres-cut. And Ne-vaa-da instead Nevada.
