aspect ratio

I've been wanting to buy this film on DVD for a while, but the version that is out there is 1.33/1 in aspect ratio.

Does this make sense?

The indicated aspect ratio may be misleading. I have a DVD of Insignificance. It states it is 4:3, but letterboxed. On viewing it is indeed 16:9 - the original ratio I assume.

In effect it has been set up to show the proper 16:9 ratio on 4:3 devices.

Nnno. Its fullscreen. The question is whether or not that was intended. Artisan put it out, you'd think they'd not mess around.

So, to clarify: which edition would you recommend? The Australian R4? I can live with my VHS copy, but I'd appreciate a few pointers. Thanks.
