Why no Larry Hagman

I can assume due to his scheduling with Dallas but what was his reasoning for not doing this movie?

i remember once reading an article saying that he was unavailable because he was to busy with dallas.when they made the second reunion i still dream of jeannie he had just finished 13 years on dallas so he needed a break from acting.looking on the bright side though at least in this movie we had the character of tony nelson appear in the second reunion movie tony nelson did not appear at all.

I heard from someone who worked on the film that the studio only offered Larry the same rate of pay as he was given during his days on Jeannie back in '65-'70. Meanwhile, on Dallas he was making many, MANY times that amount per episode. Larry apparently said that he wasn't looking for them to pay him his high Dallas rate, but to at least make him a reasonable offer somewhere in the middle and then he'd more seriously consider doing the film. The studio didn't budge, so Larry just continued on with his busy Dallas schedule and we got a new Tony Nelson.

Barbara Eden confirmed in the interview on YouTube that Hagman's work schdule with DALLAS was the main reason he didn't participate.

DALLAS had a very odd production schedule ... cast and crew would fly to TX for exterior shots for 6-8 episodes that already been written. Then they'd fly back to CA to shoot interior scenes for the same 6-8 episodes. And then it would all start over again with the commutting back and forth. Not sure I could have done that for 13 years in a row.
