Casting Choices

I've just watched this film back and I'm not sure the casting was right for it.

It's mentioned that Holcroft is 43 at the time but Caine was about 10 years older in real life & did look it to be fair.

Given that their father died in 1945, Andrews character must be at least the same age as Holcroft & Tennant's character would also have to be around 40.

I think both we're in their mid 30's when the film was made. Although Andrews and Tennant look quite passable as brother and sister they both look way younger than Caine.

I think the big problem is that Caine shares a lot of screen time with Tennant and that you are suppose to buy the fact that there is no more than a couple of years age difference between them, when in reality he looks old enough to be her father!

I wonder what the film would have been like had James Caan not dropped out of starring.
