Why wouldn't Rosenberg run away?
In the scene where the SS officer declared him "unfit to travel" so that he wouldn't be resettled, why didn't Rosenberg take the offer and save his life?

shareI think it may go back to the conversation he had with Helmut earlier in the movie. When Helmut returns some of Rosenberg's books, he asks him why he doesn't emigrate to the US or England. Rosenberg's response was that he would not be able to find work and that he was much too German anyway, and he would feel homesick. In my opinion, Rosenberg would rather die in his country than "desert" his people.
