Locations?

I know this is obvious but the castle where the main character jumps into the water is the Zitadelle in Spandau. And I believe Check Point Charlie was shown (or simulated).

Did anyone else recognize other specific locations?

Th Burger King that used to be in Berlin at Kudamm corner of Meineke street comes to mind. The bench Jonathan is sleeping on is right in front of Gedaechniskirche in Berlin, a very famous place (the church - not so much the bench).

Part of East Berlin (where one street goes noticeable downhill) is in Kreuzberg.

Love this movie because there are so many places of my hometown shown.

Okay: You can see the Marheineke Markthalle - an old Shopping Center, located Bergmannstr. in Kreuzberg. I lived near the set. It was nice to see: "Hey, now I´m living in the GDR!" :D I was in a hurry for shopping at the shopping Center and ran into a scene with Mr. Löwitsch. He was realy "not amused". What a pitty, it was not shown in the film! :D

Round this location a lot of movies were made. I remember Flightplan.

i was stationed in West Berlin (Templehof AirBase) 87-89. and it was pretty funny to see Anthony Edwards (stunt double) jumping into the moat (hope he had all his shots) plus it looked pretty cold!!! Checkpoint Charlie in the movie looked OK but one could tell it wasnt the real Checkpoint Charlie. For all you Cold War trivia buffs. the real Checkpoint Charlie (guard shack) is at a museum in Berlin. Altho there is still the Museum at Checkpoint Charlie which shows how some people escaped from East Berlin and East Germany.

Insane question but would they let me jump into that moat? I badly want to jump into that moat. (Big history with the film...)

jglezen1, you and I might know each other! I was stationed at Tempelhof from January 85 to January 89, and was on Dawg Flite at Marienfelde. My room was two floors above the Silverwings, on the third floor of H2-Long, which fronted Columbiadamm, just across from the movie theater. I remember me and my roomie watching the crew film a scene just across the street where Anthony Edwards and Linda Fiorentino (hubba hubba!) were holding hands and walking down the street, and a couple of KBG agents were furtively following them about half a block behind.

The East Berlin scenes were very convincing. They had appropriate Soviet\Eastern Bloc cars. I assume it wasn't really shot in East Berlin, so it's nice that they went to that level of attention to detail.
