Re-watched after more than a decade and kinda bored me...

In the past three years, my wife and I traveled twice to Oregon, including stops and tours in Astoria both times, as well as Cannon Beach where the beach scenes were filmed.

Out of curiosity, I decided to re-watch The Goonies to see if I recognized the sights and locations. I hadn't watched it in over 15 years since my boys were young.

Gotta admit, it was a slog to get through it. It hasn't aged well. By today's standards the pacing was slow. The final showdown on One-Eyed Willie's ship is particularly hard to watch. The fight between the Fratelli brothers and Sloth is awkward and clunky, with everyone just mugging it up for the camera to make up for the lack of energy. It almost seemed like they were improvising it on the spot.

I doubt that this movie would be rated higher than 5 on IMDB today.
