The unedited version appeared on First Choice/Superchannel (canada's 80's version of HBO), I had a copy of it on video. During the 80's Superchannel would give a "free weekend" at the movies - where you got the scrambled channels - but they weren't scrambled...It was a ploy to get you to buy the cable channels. During the movies they would have words flash across the screen saying "Sign up now!" etc. I taped nearly every movie that would run during this free weekend. Anyway, they were notorious for showing unedited versions of films. So far, I know this is the case for Ghoulies (yes, there was nudity at the start of the film), Can't buy me love & Teen Wolf.
Why studios release the films cut, is beyond me. Maybe to double dip and release a "definitive" version later...? Either way, it's lame and it shows that studios really have no respect for horror or horror fans.
It's not that we are all dying to see breasts, to me at least, it just makes me really mad to have to think about whatever happened to videotape from 1986 that contained "real" versions of movies and waste my money on dvd's that aren't the movie we saw, loved & remembered.
Boohoo.
