You have to have faith

So why why's Peter able to use the cross against Evil but not on Jerry?
And what was Peter going to do if he found Charley's mom? Tell on Jerry???

i always thought maybe the head vampire is more POWERFUL and requires more FAITH in God and the cross then his underlings.

That's just me though :)

Isn't that what Jerry actually said?

He had faith from the lore and his movies it would work. But he was scared and lost confidence against the master.

I agree. Jerry's presence is more menacing and powerful than Ed so Peter Vincent lost some of his faith and was less brave at that moment.

Yes, Jerry was a much more powerful vampire than Evil Ed.

"You have to have faith for that to work on ME, Mr. Vincent!"

In the original screenplay its said that Peter Vincent was going to call the cops but the phone wire was cut so he got desperate and went upstairs to let Mrs. Brewster know about Charlie. It was clear Peter Vincent was terrified and a bit disoriented at this point.
