Continuity Problem Solved Between Parts 5 + 6?

Here is my theory on the continuity in between parts 5 & 6:

There's 2 options here:

Option 1: Tommy killed the girl at the end of part 5 and was sent to a mental hospital because he thought he was Jason. Tommy and his friend escape the mental institution and go to Jason's grave at the beginnign of part 6. Tommy's friend even mentions on the drive to the cemetary that they left the hospital.

Option 2: Tommy did not kill the girl at the end of part 5 and the doctors found him right before he was about to hack her to death and he was still sent to the mental hospital for trying to kill her and they escape and go to Jason's grave at the beginning of part 6.

personally, I think option 2 is more believable than option 1.

What do you think?

Tommy does not kill Pam. The only place you can find this information is in the novelization for Friday the 13th part six Jason Lives, it's in the prologue.

Novelizations aren't made by the filmmakers. They mean nothing.

That doesn't matter. They're official merchandise that have officially been put on the market. It's a matter of opinion as to whether or not they are canon, I suppose, but my opinion is that they most definitely are. An official novel is not fan-fiction.

That whole sequence at the end makes no sense as why woudl they leave the hockey mask in his hospital room? That part was a dream.

Tommy Jarvis was supposed to be the next killer. They wanted to have Tommy kill Pam and Reggie off in Part VI.

reply

Indeed. That explains the end scene in terms of the real world, but it doesn't explain it in terms of the world of the films.

The actor got cold feet and didn't want to ado another one, that idiot!
He screwed part 5+6

I can't think of something that will make you remember my quote.

The actor has said that the reason he didn't do Part VI is because they dropped the thing of him being the killer.

The end of part 5 I just chalk up to Tommy having hallucinations. Tommy just faced what he believed was Jason and in his state of mind I'm sure it was entirely possible he was dreaming.

I just ignore parts 6, 7, 8, etc. When that stuff was filmed, they were setting it up for Tommy to be the new killer.

^THIS. Because its totally in line with Tommy's character throughout part 5 as he was constantly having hallucinations.

Oh yea a real idiot. He really missed out on that Oscar.

I Agree with your Assessment of what Happened. that ending certainly WAS confusing. id like to think that Tommy was stopped by Hospital security before he could kill Pam. thanks for helping to clear this mess up. :)

How do you hack someone to death with a knife?

Uh, no. John Shepherd didn't do part six because some concerned parents of the kids he was working with in some children's group expressed their concern about how he could be a role model when he was in Friday the 13th part 5, so he basically got out of the business after that. And, NO, IMDb is wrong, and has been for years. John Shepherd is not in that episode of Friday the 13th: the Series. That's another actor from Scotland named John Shepherd.

The ending has two fictional storylines. After the sheriff tells her about Roy, Pam has a dream where she walks into the hospital room, and Tommy stabs her in the gut. Tommy has a hallucination where he sees Jason, puts on a hockey mask, smashes the window and sneaks up behind Pam in an attempt to kill her.

reply

I don't think that Tommy killed Pam. Remember, that she was supposed to be in Part VI, so obviously she was not meant to die since she had even signed on to be in Part VI

this because every previous films had dream slots.

also, it covers the fact fans thought copy cat killers sucked and they had to re-write p6.
