Agnes rape parallel of Maid rape

Agnes forces her maid to have sex, for Agnes' pleasure. That's a form of rape.
Agnes mimics the words her maid says during her own rape.

It was hard to feel sorry for Agnes during that scene, because of what she forced on her own maid. It's never all fun and games, and the juxtaposition of the two scenes is thought-provoking.

I notice, however, that the only rape that others are affected by is Agnes the Princess', not her Maid's. I don't know what that says, but it feels depressing.

What she did was wrong but her maid was actually enjoying herself. She wouldn't stop when Agnes told her to.

Was Agnes really enjoying herself in the tub, or at the dinner table, or when she threw things at Steven with the other roughnecks? Agnes didn't have the strength of character to be herself, but she did have the strength to survive any way she could.

The same goes for the maid. We never saw the maid as she really was, with whom she really wanted to be. She didn't want to have sex, she was told she was going to have sex or else, so she did as she was told.

And that's why it's important that Agnes used the Maid's words when the Bandit Leader raped her. It wasn't just that she thought that's what sex was, it was that that was what unwanted sex was.

The maid was already having sex with the man. Agnes said she sees them sneak around at night to have sex. (cannot remember exactly what she says, it has been a while since I have seen the movie)

The maid said she didn't feel like having sex right then because it was daylight with people all around and Agnes wanted to watch. She just did not want to do it under those circumstances.
