Survival instinct or stockholm syndrome?

I think Agnes used her survival instinct to latch onto Martin. She realised he was the leader of the group and tried to form a forced relationship with him. He had the power within the group to do whatever he wanted. As he was the leader. She knew if she could become part of his “property” no one else would be able to rape, abuse or even kill her. As abusing a hierarchy's property was considered an insult to said person and could be punished by death.

She also tried to become part of the pack. When they had the feast at the castle, she remarks “I'm one of you now” when trying to take a seat at the table and she also offers a toast to the “valiant helpers”. You can see the relief on her face when the next person supports her toast and remarks “to us”. This shows she's slowly becoming part of the pack. Which would ensure her own survival. She also uses her quick wit when Martin is thrown down the well.

At the end of the film though she is clearly suffering from stockholm syndrome. She was very close to telling the group about the diseased water. The stockholm syndrome had taken a real effect in regards to Martin as she stopped him from drinking the diseased water. She also never alerted anyone when she saw Martin at the end of the film because she wanted him to get away.

I haven't seen the movie yet, gonna watch it tomorrow so i haven't read your post, just the title to avoid spoilers.
Stockholm syndrom is a natural reaction who kicks in to increase the survival chance.
So it's probably both.
