Goofs

This is one of my favorite movies. Robert Preston (who was a tremendously talented and underappreciated actor), and Mary Tyler Moore are wonderful together. A goof in the movie I did notice is in the scene where he is eating soup after getting soaked in the rain (I think he's wearing her robe after splitting the seams.). In one shot he is eating the soup with his left hand and in the next he's using his right hand.

I've noticed in other movies of his that he seemed equally at ease using either hand. It must have been hard for the continuity people to keep track of that.

At any rate, it's a crime this was never released to DVD. There are many of us who are fans of it and it would find many more fans if it were available now.

Believe me, Crowner, I also wish I can find this film on dvd. HBO used to show this film maybe once every three years but I have not seen it in a very long time. This is one of my most favorite films. I was at university when it came out. Originally, I decided to watch it because I am a big MTM fan. I never expected to like it as much as I did. It's one of those films I can watch again and again without getting tired. I would love to see it again.

How about this goof. The sign on finnegans back "This old mother for sale cheep"? You'd think a newspaperman and school teacher would notice the spelling error. Maybe they think he's a mother bird! Lol.

reply

Not a goof, IMO. It was written by someone whose wasn't concerned about spelling, then put on Finnegan's back as a gag by some kids on the street.
