Are parts of LA really like this at night?
Never been there, so gotta ask.

I didn't know that, but L.A. is a poster child for this kind of bad rap (probably because of its size), therefore the question.
There's a seedy side of town and then there's running whole night through at best ghost town empty streets or at worst gang roaming alleyways.
If L.A. is not THAT bad, what's the situation in Detroit or Chicago?
