The dance battles

A couple of my favorite scenes in the film were the ones about Caesar and his gang challenging Matt and his friends to a dance war at "The Zoo" club. I did see the sound track listing for the film. However, I don't really know what music titles from that list were played during the first and second dance challenge scenes. I was wondering if anyone can help identify them?

reply

Unfortunately the soundtrack listing at the end of the movie does not list those two selections; it lists a selection by Herbie Hancock called HARDROCK, I am not sure if that may be the second selection used for the dance rematch.

I know it is frustrating when record companies decide what to release and what to shove in a vault, and people like us that would love to own the entire soundtrack as it appears in the movie are left biting the dust.

Update: HARDROCK by Herbie Hancock is the music selection used when Meryl and Debbie get attacked by thugs walking home after going to the movies.

Update: There is user here called PHAOTA1 that has posted all kinds of incorrect info about the movie, very mistaken, so please ignore all those stupid comments.

Thanks for your reply, pajamajoejoe. I agree that it's frustrating when they don't list these things. Those two music pieces were one of my favorites in the film and the most entertaining scenes. It's a shame that they're hard to find, I will however, look up hardrock. thanx once again.

Dear Lord, how incorrect is all this crap you typed. John Scott Clough had nothing to do with composing or performing those instrumental pieces, they were both developed by music supervisor Quincy Jones, all Clough did with the music was sing in the movie's soundtrack.

And the song before the first dance off is CURVES, not TASTE. Get your facts straight before misleading people. Geez.

Well, watch it again, cause your facts are not "STRAIGHT". CURVES comes on before the first dance-off, TASTE plays after the first dance-off when they decide to go to clubs to learn new moves. And Quincy Jones WAS a Music Supervisor as well as Executive Producer. He composed uncredited selections for the soundtrack, like he has done in several of the movies he has composed music for without getting credit.

And how terrible as well your fact about HARDROCK: this song only plays in the movie as underscore for the scene when two of the girls get attacked by muggers walking back to the apartment after going to a movie. Gosh, what movie do you own and actually saw? It sure does not sound like this one.

And the two songs before the first dance-off are SHOWDOWN and CURVES.

Well, dude, stay ignorant and in denial, once you watch it again and pay attention to it for the first time, I hope you find the error of your ways, and remove all the incorrect info you have put in here, you are doing the movie a disservice.

I'm not going to remove what isn't incorrect. Say it stays. End of line.

Alright, I see where we went wrong on this debate. I wasn't thinking about the dance battles, for some odd reason (even though that was the topic), but the ending. The songs are in correct shown in the credits, though. So, yes, "Curves"
does come before the dance battle (or dance-off) between the two groups in the club. My apologies for the errors. And, I have deleted my old posts containing the incorrect information.

Man, you just can't give it a rest, can you. I gave my apology for the screw up since I was thinking about a different song and you just want to twist the knife in even more. Let..it..go already.

I just clarified that it was you who went the wrong way with this, not us. You said WE went the wrong way in your next to last message, when it was just you all along who was wrong.

And yet you keep pushing the point. Let the issue die already. I've apologized for the error.

Not pushing, just clarifying and correcting; done with this a long time ago.
