Super Pat Metheny track

one of the movie highlights

I think it was Pat Metheny's soundtrack that attracted me so much to this movie, or was it the movie that turned me onto Pat Metheny, can't remember, either way this is the prime of his sound, glad someone else on here noticed it.

The name of the Pat Metheney song during the wedding's title is "It's for you". It will forever remind me of my "one that got away".

The track "It's For You" can be found on the Pat Metheny CD entitled: "As Falls Wichita, So Falls Wichita Falls". It's one of my favorites. Coincidentally, Pat Metheny also did some of the music in the movie "Falcon and the Snowman", which according to IMDB also had an appearance by the actor who played the pilot/skydiving instructor in Fandango.

He did ALL of the original music in F&S

I was just watching the "Field of Dreams" dvd and we were looking at the deleted scenes. There's one scene where Kevin Costner and Amy Madigan are purchasing materials to build the field. "It's For You" is playing in the background. I tried to search for the song on the soundtrack but it doesn't credit PMG anywhere - probably because the scene never made it into the movie therefore the song was never actually in the movie. But some of the music during the acutal movie does sound PMG-like. I'll have to go back and listen again.

Great scene in Fandango because the tune was so good.

Yup and you can see how much Reynold's loved it : the whole wedding scene is elaborated and edited in account of it. Heck, even when Costner turns to the band and says : - How about a Fandango ? I thought the Metheny track would stop and we would hear the band (which might have been the original intention) but NO WAY !! He keeps the Metheny tune going for amazing effect !

the Metheny track that plays during the wedding sequence was a stroke of genius...Reynolds then somehow manages to top it when "Can't Find My Way Home" is heard as the image of Gardner fades and the credits roll...the greatest union of music and image i've ever seen in my life...

There's actually 3 Metheny tracks in this film. It's For You, Farmer's Trust and September Fifteenth

This will always be one of my favorite films. First, because I thought it was an effective dramedy and second, it introduced me to Pat Metheny. Since linking the two I've seen him countless times in concert. September 15th is my favorite song.

So this is a special film highlighted by some interesting dialog, characters about whom you cared and unique, quirky scenes(the ad hoc wedding set up, the wedding dance with the beautiful Pat Metheny song and the free fall parachute scene...
