Metaphorical Rape or Real Rape?

Did she get raped off camera or was her being strapped to the truck supposed to be as bad as rape? What justified her killing all of the guys instead of just running them over with her car or something and then turning them into the police?

-What you gonna see?
-Something that starts soon and looks good.

It's been ages since I saw it... kind of 1986 I think

I think, though, that this is one of those cases where you can decide what happened for yourself. If you're too squeamish to have her be raped, she wasn't. If you need her to be raped to justify her revenge then she was raped.

Having said that, this was early in cinema days of nudity, so showing bare breasts was bad enough let alone a gratuitous rape scene.

You mean, the brutal slaughter of her beloved animals wasn't reason enough to kill those scumbags??

No rape. They would have shown (or hinted more strongly at) that. But even if there were rape, it wouldn’t have justified killing them all.

However, it’s a revenge movie. No proper justification is needed.

Hard to say. I’d say metaphorical because when she encounters Sparks the next day he says something like ‘ready for another ride?’ which sort of indicates that the ride on the bonnet was the worst part of the ordeal. Still, I agree with most posters on this thread, it was left ambiguous on purpose, maybe to avoid censorship (rampant in Australia)
