love movies that show the tiny everyday details of life then, like products and street scenes and clothing and furnishings etc.

Agreed. I like the scenes where there is just normal stuff going on. The scene in Central Park is a good example.
I don't miss the 80s-the music sucks imo, but I do like a lot of the movies.
