Not On Disney+

One of the few Star Wars productions not available on Disney+ right now. Does anyone know why? Is there an ownership issue, since it was made for tv that maybe Lucas Films didn't completely own it? Or did they just forget about it and think no one would ever care to watch it anyways.

I know the Holiday Special is also not there, but I'm sure that was at Lucas's insistence. It wouldn't surprise me if that was the only thing George refused to sell, in order to ensure that its never shown again.

It is quite possible that Disney is just too cheap to put it on since it was a TV show it probably has more residual fees that they would have to pay, and might even have to go try and re-negotiate the music that was used. I can't remember if it was the Ewoks or the other special, but if I'm not mistaken one of them had a musical performance by some rock group which would likely require a release before it could be put on a streaming service. I know some other TV shows have had to change their sound tracks because the original contracts didn't foresee DVD and the owners of the show were too cheap to pay for the release forcing them to simply stick in some other random canned music.
