Heidi in Space is exactly what Lucas had in mind :) Not sure where I read it though, I think it was an interview with Eric (Mace) Walker. Lucas made the sequel for his daughter, who really liked Cindel. This is why the movie centers around her character and her parents and brother have such small roles.
