I saw this many many years ago, a year or two after it came out... and never since. I've got yo ask whether this is considered canon or not?

According to wookieepedia, it is now considered part of the Legends chronology, along with all of the previous Expanded Universe. I don't know how reliable that is, though.
That said, these Ewoks movies didn't really have any impact on the Star Wars Universe, so I see nothing that contradicts anything else.
