Oh wow

There are REAL, LIVE people who watch this movie without the "Mystery Science Theater 3000" treatment? That's one of the funniest things I've heard in a while.

Amen to that. Some a-holes dont know what they r missing.

MST3K is for unimaginitive douchebags who, as if the CHEEZE in these films wasn't obvious enough, are incapable of ripping apart the movie themselves and need the help of snappy wise-cracking commentary by some a$$holes pretending to be robots in order to enjoy a "bad" movie. It really pisses me off.

reply

haha, you are so wrong and stupid that it is almost as funny as MST3K

reply

This movie was completely out of place on MST3k. It has some horrible acting and dialog, sure, like most Italian films dubbed in English, BUT it's got excellent stylized action sequences - LOTS of them.

And the MST3k team cut (as in edited) this film to shreds to make it even worse than the already cut US VHS version. It's missing all the stuff that made it good! Like the long shootout between Dublone and the Interceptors all in one amazing dolly shot, the scene where the rebel uses a suicide bomb to kill and Interceptor and it blows them both up in glorious slow motion... and then Strike bashes a guy's face in with his shotgun butt.... and of course when Strike blows the hell out of the car parked near the hospital up with a grenade! The action is just too cool! They even cut out when Trash's dad (badass Romano Puppo) slow motion bashes in the guy's helmet with the baseball bat. Nelson and the Bots should be arrested.

yeah those action scenes, woo boy, just excellent

I'm with Drag. I watched this with some friends (NON MST3K version) and it was hilarious. If you need the MST3K crew to point out the funny parts to you, then you must have zero friends, and no imagination.

As much as I like esoteric cinema, Italian flicks, both mindless action films and the intelligent stuff and admire directors who have a vision and make it reality no matter what the outcome, the amount of anti-MST3K "too cool for school" posing on imdb.com is hillarious. It's funny how all these people here and other boards post same sounding "well, I saw (so-and-so exploitation movie no one today would take the time to watch and enjoy in a non-ironic fashion) with my friends the other night and we all came up with funnier jokes". C'mon, people, let's be honest...you were exposed to the movie via the show, but are ashamed to admit that you were a fan (who else would care about a SEQUEL to a foreign movie that was featured on a cable TV show cancelled a decade ago with the said episode unavailable commercially?). Granted, MST fanboyism is corny, but it was one of the better TV shows of the 90s, in my opinion. It's OK to like something that lots of other people like, weak-minded contradictary tools. These types are probably the same ones who say stuff like "The Beatles were the worst rock band ever"

reply

You tell 'em, psycho. They think its cool to trash a show that we all know they must have watched - probably in secret. Then they go out and posture avout how they hate it and can make up better jokes themselves. As if. You need actual wit, a sense fo humor, and brain cells for that. These losers don't qualify.

I've never watched Mystery Science Theater 3000. It sounds kind'a stupid.

I love movies. I want to see the movie as the director intended. Not with people making jokes over the top of it. That's sacrilege. It would be like listening to The Beatles while some critics talks over the music. Just pointless IMO.

The Blu-ray/DVD combo pack released by Blue Underground in June 2015 is fully uncut.

Send her to the snakes!

Except comparing Escape 2000 to The Beatles is kinda like comparing Citizen Kane to Limp Bizkit.

I love movies, too. That doesn't make MST3K any less hilarious, or Escape 2000 any less half-assed.

Yeah, you're missing out if you can't find anything to appreciate about ESCAPE FROM THE BRONX. It's an exceptionally well-crafted Italian action gem with an accomplished shot design, above average set pieces (for the post-nuke sub-genre) and nicely executed action sequences. It had no business being on MST3K as it's actually a quality sci-fi/action movie, and it already has a built-in sense of humor/self-parody. MST3K sucks, by the way; the jokes are shallow and obvious, and the humor caters solely to bores who lack the imagination to enjoy and appreciate genre films. So yeah, the movie has fans... and I'd wager they're far cooler people than the movie's detractors.

Of Enzo Castellari's catalog, there are many other films which would have fit a lot better on the show, like SINBAD OF THE SEVEN SEAS, THE SHARK HUNTER, or LIGHTBLAST.

The style and beauty of Italian genre films will fly over the heads of most MST3k fans. I'll concede that the film has its share of awkward scenes, some awful dubbing, bad central performance from Mark Gregory, and goofy dialog, but it also has a lot of good filmmaking (directing, music, stunts, editing) on display especially when taking the low budget into account.

Personally I loved MST3K, especially as a teenager, but found this episode to be pretty weak despite a few good jokes (like "I think I have something over. It may be a cold, over."). The unfortunate thing is that every time I've seen the film since, I hear Mike and the Bots' quips whether it's the MST3K'ed version or not.

Two of their funniest episodes were of Italian genre B-pictures "Devil Fish" and "Cave Dwellers", which in my opinion are the only ways to enjoy those particularly awful films. I wish I could say the same for "Pumaman", but that one is too bad even for good riffing to save.

Still not sure if I understand why they decided to put Mario Bava's "Danger Diabolik" on there.

Mystery Science Theater 3000 is a simply deplorable show; I loathe the smug attitude of condescending superiority that this show positively reeks of.

I've been chasing grace/ But grace ain't easy to find
