I'd really like to see this remade

I'm not one for remaking every movie. I only think a movie should be remade if they can improve it. Now, I am a fan of this movie. I think Lou and Dennis are awesome in it and would be hard to top their performances. I do think that the movie could be improved upon. I never read the book, but supposedly the mine element was added. So maybe if they were more tue to the book. I just think that the movie is very underrated and remaking it would really give the movie a new audience. I think someone like Duncan Jones or Christopher Nolan would do an amazing job with a remake. I could see Christian Bale starring in it.

I think the original was fantastic and Lou Gosset was given the finger by the Academy - he deserved a win that year.

I'd rather see one of the sequels turned into a film than a remake of the original.

Although some of the effects may look dated these days, other parts of the film were absolutely fantastic. The segment after Quaid is recovered and his medical capsule is riding the elevators on the space station (and he's mumbling in Drac) was a really badass scene for an 80s film. Watching Brion James die a miserable death is always good fun, and since he's dead himself any remake would be missing that classic scene. :D

I agree. I've been thinking this for weeks now. I wonder if it's going to happen. This could be one of the better remakes and be huge in scope.

Sequel. Quaid and Gosset can still be in it.
