Interesting Idea That Was Poorly Executed

Being a fan of the original 1967 MGM film(The Dirty Dozen is my favorite war movie of all war movies), I was a little surprised by the 1985 television sequel and what the storyline was. Like The Magnificient Seven, The Dirty Dozen also fell into that same trap. I mean, the idea of the United States military being sent behind enemy lines to kill a German general, just because he is going to kill Hitler(who in turn is also running his own military forces into the ground and facing defeat)is ridiculous! As the character of John Reisman said when given his orders "Army mentality never ceases to amaze me!"

So what if the war in Eurpoe had lasted longer if Hitler had been assasinated. The Allied forces would have still defeated the Nazi's, no matter who took Hitler's place.

A sequel to The Dirty Dozen may have been an interesting idea. But, it was poorly executed. They should have come up with a better target than just a German general. Hitler would have been a better target. Or even a V-2 missile site for that matter.

I had seen the movie, it was okay, and speaking of the dialogue, who didn't get annoyed when any of the characters says "Shut up." The comment had to be said almost a dozen times in the movie and despite the flaws, it could have been a lot better or worse.

It wasn't made for cable. It was made for U.S. network television.

MY chief beef is we're to believe this is only a short time after the first mission?
Seeing how the 3 actors from the first film have aged
