Nostalgia

The main reason to watch any of these movies is nostalgia, and to see a record of what New York looked like in the 1980's, for instance.

So, while there are location shots in a movie like this, it would be cool if there were more.

I call these good time capsule movies.

Movies with real crowds of people and busy cities.

One of the most famous is 1950's San Francisco in the movie 'Vertigo'.

Other good ones that come to mind...'Car Wash' 70's LA....'Rollercoaster' which contains large crowds and wearing 70's attire...and of course the best time capsule of all time 'Woodstock'.

The main reason I watch this particular film is Rosanna Arquette. But I do have a lot of interest in the background of older British films from the 1940s-60s in particular, before everything started to change so quickly - so perhaps you're right.

Totally agree!

I started on this journey with 80's NY movies.

Now I currently find myself watching movies from the '20s and feeling so provileged to be able to experience a different time and place.

Not sure exactly what "these movies" refers to, but the main reason to watch DSS is that it's a great movie. Any nostalgia is a bonus.

80's movies. Come on, not that difficult.
