Did anyone think it may be a good idea to thin out the herd?

Those zombies on that flimsy ass fence. Logic dictates that you need to kill those zombies there. In turn the piled up bodies would act as a first fence.

I've always thought that. Even with an oncoming herd, especially in a confined area like a staircase. Kill enough of the first ones and the sheer mass of bodies would block the rest.

Agree that the fence was on its last legs. It was ready to tip over from the weight of the zombies. The problem though is if you killed the zombies, they would pile up and then other zombies would be able to climb over them - eventually going right over the top of the fence.

I think they should have left altogether. That compound was not easy to defend. It was too big, had multiple entrances and weak points. It had electricity but no security camera system. I'm sure they could have found a better base somewhere else.

That compound was practically a paradise. And they do thin out the heard. They even say at the start, but Sarah insists to wait for night this time to avoid riling them up
