How is this a 7?

I understand people have different tastes, I understand having only just watched it and it might be dated. Seriously though, a 7?!

The only thing scary about this is the thought of having to watch it again. Some of the characters were ok, but massive overacting from some such as"Dr Frankenstine" was comical.

"Bub", a zombie that learns. A zombie that feels anger over the doctors death and sets off for revenge..... with a gun!

Pretty poor movie in my eyes. Can't even see this being scary back when it was made.

Wow you are so damn moronic, damn straight this movie has a 7! I gave it an 8, amazing moviee!!!

reply

Try to look past that... The zombies are the enemies right? Yet, as always, humans will fight each other even in the face of IMMINENT DOOM! The human race is pretty much wiped out and only a few of them are left, and by Logan's calculation, and are outnumbered by 400,000 to 1! Yet they fight each other at a time where they need to stick together!

^ This is what sticks out to me in the movie over everything else.

The only thing scary about this is the thought of having to watch it again.

The zombies don't have a lot of time on screen, the movie is pretty much the interaction between the Soldiers and the science team. The zombies are there for a plot, not really to scare the audience.

Some of the characters were ok, but massive overacting from some such as"Dr Frankenstine" was comical.

Dr. Logan was insane. He went crazy being down there butchering up bodies, it's not overacting, it's the character being played as an insane man.

It's not scary to me and I don't even like to watch horror movies. BTW, all of my responses are my opinion, I definitely understand that you are just stating your opinion, but I don't feel like you gave the movie a chance, or maybe your expectations were set high with the rating being a 7.

I could be wrong... But I think it's the average of all the ratings it received by induvidual viewers.

reply

Yeah, how is this rated so low?

reply

It should be a 10

reply

At the very least a 9. I could see 1 out of 10 people not loving it. Some people just don't like zombie movies, I get that. Not me though. I gave this film a 10 without question. I've watched this and Day at least once a week for the last 3 or 4 year. They never get old, only better and better.

reply

at the very least... Day of the Dead is a masterpiece, hands down. Romero at the top of his game, no doubt.

reply

A great film maybe you prefer the piece of crap remake that was made which had a vegetarian zombie, and zombies that defy gravity...WTF is that? The dark overtones of the movie and the breakdown of the group is fantastic. Rhodes is the ultimate villain in this film. In fact I bought a ticket for Mad Max Beyond Thunderdome and snuck into Day of the Dead being only 12 at the time the zombie effects scared me for weeks if not months. Different strokes for different folks but it is definitely a 7 or even higher. I think it was one of if not the 1st movie to get a NC-17.

reply

The NC-17 rating wasn't created until 1990. If I'm not mistaken, "Day of the Dead", much like "Dawn of the Dead", was released into theaters as Unrated (though Dawn at least was rated "X" by the mpaa then simply released into theaters as Unrated).

reply

Henry & June (1990) was indeed the first NC-17 film.

Because it's the best film in a storied franchise?

I honestly have no clue what today's audiences want in a film. When I want to see a film about a handful of possibly the last humans on earth facing extinction, I want it to be dark. I want it to feel claustrophobic. I want a sense of tension. This film delivers all of those.

Resident evil doesn't do any of those things yet each of the rapidly-declining deeper-into-the-B flicks they pump out makes 100 million dollars. Zombieland wasn't even funny, DEFINITELY not scary, yet I see it listed as people's 'favorite zombie movie' so much it hurts. World War Z might be one of the most turgid films ever made that couldn't be bothered to even glance at the source material and it's just like Zombieland when it comes to kids and their 'favorites'.

One day I'm going to walk into a theater showing Dr. Strangelove and see all the kids throwing popcorn at the screen while walking out. That's the day I'm just checking out of this universe.

Hated this movie the first time I watched it a couple of years ago, today I rewatched it and appreciated alot more. Appreciated it alot more for its different philosophical direction without the sentimentality that I am sick of seeing.
