D.A.R.Y.L. was a excellent family flick from the 80's and definitely should be rebooted in the same spirit it was made in. I didn't like A.I. I thought it was boring and lame especially compared to this, D.A.R.Y.L. had heart, action, and excitement. A priceless family film that deserves another shot.

I agree. Whenever I rewatch these great 80s films that had an impact, I always find another layer to the story that gives it that beneath the surface depth.
With Daryl, it was the interesting idea of a woman trying to bond with an adopted son who doesn't need her. Her struggle to "feel needed" and how selfish that can seem, when balanced with the need to just want to love someone, was interesting. I don't think a kids film like this would ever attempt something subtle like that now, but back in the day even younger audiences were respected with decent scripts and ideas.
