This film makes me feel a little bid sad when it's over!

Am I the only one?! I have watched that film countless time , first on an old VHS that I constantly abused from overuse when I was a little boy , then at least twice a year on dvd and I am waiting for a blu-ray release.I love that film because it has a real chill out atmosphere , I can describe it.
For me this is the perfect film to watch on a Sunday afternoon. This film has a real warmth to it and the 80's atmosphere just adds to the feel good factor , especially if you were born in the late 70's or early 80's , it's a bit like a time capsule.
But because of this every time the film ends I feel a bit sad for various reason . The first is that it reminds of my own childhood and how great it was , then it's just the feeling that I know that family films are not the same now and we will never see any new films like this one.time has changed and people are just not innocent enough to enjoy that sort of films anymore. It's a sad truth..

Hiya, just noticed your post now, 3 years later - hope it's ok if I reply now? Cause I agree 100% with what you're saying. Although I love films like DARYL, they make me feel kind of sad, because life is too different now. I much prefer it the way it was, and I would go for an innocent age over a flashy one any day.

Often I long to travel back in time to my childhood in the 80s. Sigh. The 80s were literally magical. Sometimes I feel like I'm stuck in the wrong time zone. And DARYL does bring out quite a bit of emotion inside me. It tugs at my heartstrings.

I'm wondering, when did movies take a turn towards today's anti-innocence, and why? Was it violent video games? Did CGI allow, and therefore encourage, more violence? Was it 911, and the worldwide Islamist Jihad?

In the Scorsese movie Hugo, we're told that it was the violence of the first World War that made people cynical and less disposed to Melies's innocent, magical movies. Did that happen again, somehow?
