true.. I've seen this movie when I was a kid and I was blown away by it.
Fantastic movie!
After 15 years I'm going to rent it this weekend to see it again.
Just for the love of nostalgia. Now that I'm an adult I'll probably have a different look on the entire movie. :p

It was great.
Nostalgia can be such a great thing.
But if I hadn't seen this movie in my youth I might not have enjoyed it this much.

I just saw this movie again 25 years later and it was great. Great acting and great cast. Definitely a gem and hopefully I'll get to share this with my own kids in the future. I'd say this movie would be in the top 20 kids movies.

I think this movie has shaped me into a person I am today. When I was watching this movie, I wished I could be like DARYL. And I always tried to learn a diverse range of skills with robotic precision and loved wowing friends. It told me that a person can learn to do anything and the only reason you can't learn something is that you think you can't so you never try. The solution? Even if you suck at the beginning, keep trying and you'll get better. Don't just become good or great at something, but master it.

I agree with you.

I saw the movie as a kid in the 80's and we loved it by the time. My parents also found it very nice and well done.

I watched it again yesterday evening and I honestly had a very good time. Sweet, quite smart and well done. Very attaching movie.

Of course the movie does not have a ton of action because it's more about feelings than easy fun, which was nice for a family movie.

I enjoyed this movie quite a lot, I actually think it would be better if it was a little less 'family' friend, since it does take a serious tone, midway, and we can definitely see how Daryl captivates the people around him, and begin to question the fact that he is a little more than just a robot, but he is a person, without the use of cheap morality or religion as a cover story, it was very well done, thanks also to great performances by Barret Oliver, Josef Sommer and Michael McKean.

It was a great movie, hated the song at the end tho, the lyrics of it, was good, but the song itself, made it look like an afternoon movie, and it was way better than that.

Just watched it again a minute ago and it really stood the test of time.One of my fav 80s film along with the Goonies,I just whish the dvd had a few extras,I would have loved a new interview with the now adult Barett Oliver,he was the best child actor in the 80s,would have been nice to get to know about his experience.LOVE that film! and the imdb rating is a lot of crap.

I love how we all got *beep* over by the sudden change during the road block scene, not only did it go from serious but down right dark out of nowhere.

The score has to be from younger viewers. I'm 32, watched this as a kid and loved it. Stumbled upon an unedited version on HDNet movies and can't believe how good it still is after all this time.

Sometimes you watch a movie you remember being great when it fizzles out and ruins the nostalgia. Not this one. I still found it to be a great movie that tugs at the heart. Anything under a 7 is silly. But that is my opinion and the score itself is just other people's opinion(s). Oh well.

I remember watching this with my brother when it first came out. Fun, fun flick.

I think the IMDB rating system is one big joke. It either needs to be revised or done away with.

The problem with the current system is that they only count those who rate shows or movies a lot. They don't count votes from people who vote once or twice a year.

What is needed is to take away the restrictions of how often you vote. It needs to be a simpke system of counting votes regardless of how often people vote. Until this happens, the IMDB ratings can not be trusted.

It's up to 5.7 now. I just gave it 6/10, which is how the largest voting bloc rated it. I think this film is decent entertainment, though nothing spectacular.

Dont' take it bad, the older the movie the easier for it to get bad ratings. I personally went to the top and gave it a 10 rating to help it out.
