Podcast all about Crime Wave

Then, from the north, came John Paizs’s wonderful, quirky comedy from 1985, Crime Wave. Mike and Mondo Justin are joined this week by Skizz Cyzyk in discussing the Canadian classic about frustrated screenwriter Steven Penny (Paizs) who struggles to complete the “best colour crime movie” while living above the garage of Kim (Eva Kovaks). He can come up with great beginnings and endings but it’s the middles that challenge him. Leave that up to the advice of Dr. Jolly (Neil Lawrie).

Special Guests: Eva Kovaks, Neil Lawrie, Greg Klymkiw.

I found out about Crime Wave from the Projection Booth podcast. I'd downloaded it thinking that it was going to be about the Sam Raimi/Coen bros. CRIMEWAVE.

Two things were quickly apparent; One, this was a different movie than I knew, and two, the Projection Booth crew were very enthusiastic about this less known CRIME WAVE.

So I stopped playback on the podcast right then - no spoilers! Took me many months to finally find a copy of the film. It was worth it.

There is NO other movie like CRIME WAVE. It's nuts and it's wonderful. It's not for everybody, but screw everybody. :)

The Projection Booth podcasts are awesome and almost too in-depth. I can't thank you guys enough for introducing me to CRIME WAVE.

Silent Larry -- Thanks for the kind words. Really glad you dug the podcast and, especially, the movie. It's one of the greats!
