Music from CREATOR by Sylvester LeVay

After seeing this movie, I couldn't get the music out of my head. ( I experienced the same feeling while listening to the instrumental in Finding Forrester when Sean Connery is riding his bike...) Does anyone out there know if Sylvester LeVay's music from this movie is memorialized anywhere? CD? I have looked everywhere to no avail! PLEASE SOMEONE OUT THERE HELP! PS: Same thing goes for the former instrumental mentioned...THanks!

Hi,
some of the Piano parts sounds like "Lothlorien - by Enya" But this is NOT the end title!

If someone knows the end title, please let me know ..

And to Sylvester if he read this....
Én Sombor ba születem, te meg Szabatkan :-) Legszeb helyek a vilagban :-) !

hope someone gets to read this. Burt Bacharach wrote the theme. This goes uncredited in the film and Burt's never released it. I haven't seen the film myself, but I do hope Mr LeVay arranging skills do justice to one of the great songwriters.

reply

The best music from any film I have ever seen. I cannot get that theme out of my head, and as all good themes it really helps define the movie. Ditto for Jerry Goldsmith's theme from The Russia House. If you have not heard that theme or seen that movie, the theme helps define the movie in much the same way as LeFay's theme.

reply

Can you substantiate this please? I have not read anywhere else about Burt Bacharach's involvement in writing this music.

Great information! I've always wanted a clean recording of this music, too. It's sickening that the DVD has the first few notes cut off.

I've heard this music in the grocery store. I totally stopped dead and thought WTF? Creator music on muzak? I liked it!

reply

If you heard it in the grocery store on muzak, chances are that there is a recording of it circulating somewhere out there. I'm going to search high and low for it and if/when I get it I will let you guys know. I've been searching for a recording of this and the film music for One Magic Christmas for years and so far nada!

I'm happy to say I've found the source of your confusion.

Look no further than Bach's Goldberg Variations, esp. piece #8.

_Creator's_ composer surely meant it on purpose; as tribute and theme.

I just wish it hadn't taken me so long to make the connection -- I've been conflating the two with my annoying whistling for 25 years or so...

I'm looking forward to watching the movie againt to see how much else he cribbed!
