Could have been a masterpiece... [spoilers]

it's a strong movie, but the happy ending feels forced. spielberg even goes so far to retcon the previously established tragedy ("your children are no inbreds after all! yay!").
also, i found the relationship between shug and albert barely believable. how can shug be attracted to him and sympathize with celie at the same time? why does albert treat shug like a queen when he clearly is a misogynist?

The ending could be interpreted as fantasy. Celie had many fantasies through the film, this may have been another. I agree - it's very far fetched that she had a full reunion with her sister and kids, inherited a property from her ''real'' father and her children not being related to her. I call it nonsense.
