Did albert redeem himself?

In your opinion, did his act of bringing them together make up for all the years of abuse and hate Cecile had to suffer from?

I'm conflicted because the reunion of Cecile and Nettie was all they ever wanted but it could have been avoided had Albert not threw Nettie out. On the other hand, if Albert didn't throw her out, she would never have met Ceciles kids.

But all the things Albert did, while being portrayed as some sort of comic relief (in some scenes at least) made his character all the more disturbing.

I don't know if he completely redeems himself, but at least he recognizes the wrong he did in the past and atttempts to do right with a good heart. In the book, he and Celie have more dialogue and she even somewhat forgives him.
