Possible allegory for Jesus Christ?

I know this sounds silly, but forget RoboCop...could THIS be a possible allegory?

For a start, our hero has a beard, he is very decent and honest (not supporting Cragie and protecting that girl) and is determined to fight evil.

Also, when he makes his entrance into the building at the end, light shines in as if signalling a resurrection and note how Chuck's arms are laid out as he's being beaten up in the bar (like a crucifixion), as well as the blood around his head.

Very interesting point. Saw the movie many times but never thought of it before. I think you got it right though.

reply

Definitely not. This isn't Walker Texas Ranger...

And not to mention his peers resenting him, Much like Christ.

"No...please" "Now what good do you think that'll do?"

reply

Only difference is that he carries a gun and knows martial arts.

what are you talking about? Jesus packed an ax and whipped ass at the temple. SAME STORY!!

reply

Maaaaybe if he had built a table or a shed or something. A birdhouse, anything.

Man, the influence scripture has had on literature probably can't be measured. Now with the film medium, filmakers recognize the book has all the elements of great drama. Paul Verhoven cracks open the Bible when he hits a creative wall, The Wachowski Bros. study the New Testament when suffering writers block, Chuck Norris sits down with the Good Book, reads a favorite verse, then goes out and makes a kick butt action flick.
